So I stumbled across an Instagram post from Tamera Mowry where she talked about these so-called “gold face massagers” everyone has been talking about. I had yet to hear anything about this tool up until that point. But that’s what you get when you don’t use social media. So I decided to do a little bit of research. The gold face massaging tool she referred to in her video was actually a Jade Roller, and they are quite popular.
I watched a couple of YouTube videos on Jade Rolling and my first initial thought was that it was too good to be true. How can this little tool provide you with so many benefits? It’s been known to help prevent and eliminate rosacea (which I have a little bit of) and increase the circulation of the skin. After watching a few videos I thought, what have I got to lose? This would be perfect for me to do during a hot bath after I’ve removed my mask. And so I ordered my first Jade Roller. I say first as if I’ll have to buy them repeatedly. Let’s hope not. Let’s hope it works and lasts.
For those of you who are still wondering what this is let me explain it:
Jade Rolling is the process of rolling a gemstone (typically a jade stone, however, there are many different stones uses) across your face for a variety of benefits. The Chinese have used Jade Rolling for centuries to draw out negative energy and balance your inner chi with a naturally cooling and soothing jade stone. This art also helps increase circulation, reduces under eye redness and rosacea, and helps with lymphatic drainage. Jade Rolling is incredibly easy to do. Anyone can do it.
I haven’t had my Jade Roller for very long – just a couple of days. But I’ve got to say that it does help a little bit with my rosacea. Probably 90% of the videos I watched on youtube made these things sound like the holy grail (oh, the power of the internet) so I’m going to keep it real over here. I haven’t experienced all of the great lymphatic drainage or under-eye puffiness elimination that others are claiming benefited them. Who knows maybe I haven’t used it long enough. It has only been a couple of days. But I am seeing a slight decrease in my rosacea. And for that reason alone I’m going to continue using it.
