Last weekend I started working as a hostess at a small cafe near my house. I haven’t worked a real job in nearly three years. I love what I do, I say it all the time. More people should find something they love to do instead of slaying hours a day making someone else’s dream come true. That’s not going to happen though. People love settling.
But sometimes you have to do what you have to do to pay the bills. In my case though, I’m only doing this so that I can put the money back into the savings that I had at the beginning of the year. And so that I can convert a van a travel the country. That’s a big part of it too.
So between working a real job, running my own business, and 8 Christmas parties (I’m beginning to loathe Christmas), It’s safe to say I’m ready for the new year. I’m beat. I also haven’t worked a real job in nearly three years so it’s a bit tiring. I’m used to working in my PJ’s or my underwear if I’m being honest. Now I have to put on non-slip shoes and run around all day like a chicken with my head cut off.
Aside from that, it’s been kind of nice getting out in a new city. Though I’ve been here for months it’s rare that I see the outside of my office. I try to steer clear of all things involving people unless I have to. I’ve made a few new friends working a real job so there is something to be grateful for. And I’m even considering getting another part-time job on the weekend to add to my pile of spinning plates. We shall see how it goes.
