Days spent living in a van: 30
Days spent moving to an island with no vehicles: 3
After spending a month in the van, I started to think that it might be time for me to move on. Then I started to think that I really hadn’t given myself a chance to fully experience van life like I originally wanted to. And then I thought, it’s my life I can do what I want.
There were, of course, some engine problems that helped influence my decision to move on. But needless to say, I don’t have to give myself a notion that I have to do anything. I tried it and now I’m done. Simple as that. Or at least that’s what I like to believe.
That’s usually how I make most of my life decisions anyway. I always ask myself “is this satisfying or unsatisfying?” and if it’s unsatisfying I ask myself “where do we go next?”. So that’s where I’m at, “the next phase”. The post van life phase.
What I’ve come to learn is that . I can do whatever I want to do and it’s ok to do it. So very soon I will be quitting van life (for now) and moving to an island that doesn’t allow vehicles. A place where you get around by bike or horse and carriage.
That place, my friends, is the great Mackinac Island. So I will see you there! Well, at least here on the blog we can experience it together. It’s going to be wonderful.
