Hours navigating my way around the island: 5
Hours spent writing: 2
It’s been nearly a month since I’ve made my way to the little slice of paradise I call home for the summer. And quite the adventure it’s been here on Mackinac Island. Though I have met some wonderful people, there has been a small series of unfortunate events that have lead me to neglect my writing for the past two weeks. Which is something I cannot afford to do because writing is my life.
I have barely opened my journal and have yet to start editing my next book since arriving on this island. So one part of me really wants to sit down and do the work while the other part of me just wants to hang out with all of the wonderful people I’ve met and save my writing for the winter.
Maybe it’s the island or maybe my brain just needs a break. I should probably just use this time to enjoy the experience and write when I want to without stressing over it. It’s not like I have to choose one or the other. I can do both.
I just sort of feel like I’m living in an alternative reality on Mackinac Island. Like it’s some sort of parallel universe. It’s almost as if this isn’t real life or I’m and I just got stranded here with a bunch of people only to find out that we’re all dead.
On a more positive note, I’m working on my next project for and I’m super excited for it. My bullet came in the mail last week and I can’t wait to share my story. Also, Happy Fourth of July!
