Hours spent trying to unbox a package: .5
Hours spent writing: 2
Earlier this week I received a surprise package from an unknown sender. At least they appeared to be unknown until I became brave enough to open it and see what was inside. I watch too much 20/20 to be opening strange boxes that come in the mail.
The package was sent to the hotel that I’m working at for the summer, however, it wasn’t addressed to me. Instead, there was a picture of me and my friend on the outside of the package where my address should have been. I would later discover that this was because the lady who sent it forgot my name. Which is ok, it happens.
When I saw that the package came from Oklahoma I was immediately terrified. One because I don’t know anyone in Oklahoma (not anyone that would send me a surprise package anyway). Two, a small part of me thought it could have been the mail bomber mad at me for my political stance against our current president. You never know.
The funniest part about it is that I went to check the mail and I seen the package sitting there. I just disregarded the fact that my face was on the outside of it until someone next to me pointed it out. I guess I just didn’t look at it hard enough to notice that it was me.
Anyway, long story short the package came from a lady I met on the ferry ride over to the island almost two months ago. She didn’t remember my name or Gorona’s (my friend that was in the photo with me) which is why she taped a picture of us to the outside of it. Her name is Julia.
Julia sent us a couple of books to read along with some pictures she took and one that we took of her and her husband while they were on the island. This was the sweetest thing I’ve received in a long time and the best part about it is that I wasn’t expecting it at all. I find that the sweetest manifestations happen when you aren’t paying attention.
So thank you Julia. We appreciate you.
