Last night I had the pleasure of spending the evening with Chasten Buttigieg here in sunny Key West. It was nothing short of amazing and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Pete for America. If you follow me, you know that I’m . And so since it’s that time again, I want to share my thoughts on this campaign and encourage you to get out and vote.
I don’t want to go too in-depth here but I do want to share a few things with you. And If you’re not a registered voter, I want you to . If you are already registered, great – I hope you have a candidate in mind. Every vote counts.
Why I stand with Pete for America…
Climate change is a HUGE problem in our country right now. As the temperature rises so does the sea level which means so does the cost of food and insurance. It also results in poor air quality and health issues among millions of Americans each and every day. Because I believe this is such a huge issue, and Pete does too. I stand with Pete. .
The Douglas Plan
I’m really not one for black power (I know I’m going to get some sort of backlash for this), but I do think there is an obvious problem with racism in this country. Inspired by Frederick Douglass, is a plan that reflects on the fundamental belief in health equality for all. Not just white Americans, but black Americans as well.
His sense of belonging
There’s something about Pete Buttigieg that fills my heart with love every time I see him. I don’t think it’s the fact that he’s openly gay, but the fact that he sees everyone the way they were mean to be seen. People were created to be loved. They weren’t created so we could all tear them down and watch them burn. And for me, that’s what makes him so special. He wants everyone to belong. He wants everyone to be loved no matter who they are.
Criminal justice reform
Our system is completely flawed and that’s all there is to it. Black Americas (including myself) are . Because for the government, it’s easier to put black Americans behind bars rather than kill them – though they’re doing that too. I’ve experienced this myself on a personal level and I’m grateful that someone like Pete recognizes that this is a problem in our country.
These are just some of the few reasons I believe the Pete for America campaign is one worth fighting for. I believe in Pete. And I believe he is the right guy for the job. We need someone who’s going to pick up the pieces once Trump is out of office. We need someone who cares about our well-being. For me, that someone is Pete.
